How to Bid
New to BidBid.ca? Here’s a simple guide to help you start bidding fast and confidently.
1. Create an Account
You must register before placing a bid. Creating an account is free and takes less than a minute.
2. Browse Auctions
Visit the Home Page to see all live auctions. Each item includes:
- Clear photos
- Condition (New, Open Box, Like New, Lightly Used, Used, etc.)
- Retail value (when available)
- Closing time countdown
3. How Bidding Works
A) Quick Bid ($1 at a time)
Quick Bid increases the current bid by $1 each time.
Example:
- Current bid: $10
- You click Quick Bid → your bid becomes $11
B) Submit Max Bid (Proxy Bid)
When you enter your maximum bid and click Submit Max Bid, you are using the Proxy Bidding System.
What it means:
You tell the system the highest amount you're willing to pay. The system will automatically bid for you, raising your bid only when needed, and only by $1 increments.
Simple Example:
- Current bid is $5
- You enter a max bid of $20
- Your bid starts at $6 (just enough to take the lead)
- If another user bids $10 → your bid becomes $11
- This continues automatically until you win or your $20 limit is reached
You do NOT pay your max bid. You pay only the final winning price.
Quick Bid = manual $1 increases. Submit Max Bid = automated bidding for you.
4. Win the Auction
